It’s February! The month of love, pancake day, and the arrival of more spring-like weather… we hope! January has welcomed 2017 in style, and whilst it has gone incredibly quickly we like to use our blog as a space to reflect on all that has happened in the past month. So here goes!

In amongst the fog and snow that has fallen on us this month, we have delivered a number of courses this month including Personal Licence in Southampton and Brighton, Paediatric First Aid in Waterlooville, and a brand-new course for us: The Prevent Duty. But, more about that one in a moment. The course in Southampton was jam-packed! Completely sold out, we were delighted to have a great group on course with us and even happier to have a 100% pass rate for the day. Brighton was a fun and busy day too, welcoming a range of different candidates to the course and celebrating a 100% success rate here too. We absolutely love delivering our training, and have such a passion for the courses we do. Paediatric First Aid is a perfect example of this – such a vital training course for anyone working with children to attend, but always so fun to participate in and deliver thanks to the genuinely lovely individuals that come along.

The Prevent Duty is a topic we are very keen to promote here at GlobeUs Training. We take our responsibilities incredibly seriously, and have implemented a number of different strategies into our every day work helping to reduce the risk to young people and to increase awareness among our colleagues and stakeholders. We were approached at the top of the month by a nursery looking to extend their knowledge beyond the basic information found online, and we were delighted to be able to offer them our brand new course in the Prevent Duty. The course is just 2 hours long, but covers everything from radicalisation and extremism, signs and reporting procedures. The aim is to give anyone the knowledge and confidence to know what to look out for and what to do should they suspect extreme or terrorist activity, and we are proud to be able to make this as widely available as possible.

Looking for a bit more information, or not quite sure what this is all about? Check out our dedicated page to learn more and as always please do get in touch with us if we are able to help advise.

One piece of exciting news for GlobeUs, was our nomination for The Portsmouth News’ Business Excellence Awards! We have been shortlisted for Start Up Business of the Year, and have been invited to the awards ceremony on the 10th February to find out who has won. We are incredibly honoured to even be nominated, and are thrilled to be involved in such a wonderful event. We thank The Portsmouth News a huge amount and really look forward to the night!

January saw the celebrations of Burns Night on the 25th and the start of Chinese New Year on the 28th, and we look forward to many more events in February: the 1st and 2nd observe the Pagan festival of Imbolc (pronounced Imbolg) welcoming the halfway point between winter and spring; the 14th is St Valentine’s Day; and 28th is Shrove Tuesday (pancake day!). Phewf! Lots to look forward to and we are looking forward to the journey.

See you next month!
